DETROIT, Sept. 1, 2026
DETROIT, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The global Automotive Hall of Fame (AHF) today announced that Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Industry Leader Award in OEM, presented by Lear. Reuss will be recognized for his distinguished leadership in automotive manufacturing, product development, engineering, and his contributions to the continued evolution of one of the world’s most influential automotive companies.
The award will be presented during the Automotive News Global Congress in Detroit on September 29, 2026, where Ray Scott, President and CEO of Lear Corporation and a recipient of AHF’s 2021 Distinguished Service Citation, will present the honor to Reuss. Following the presentation, Reuss and Scott will each join KC Crain, President and CEO of Crain Communications and an AHF Board member, for a fireside chat exploring automotive leadership, industry transformation, innovation, and the future of the global automotive industry.
The Automotive Hall of Fame’s Industry Leader Award recognizes exceptional leaders and transformative figures whose contributions have significantly shaped the automotive industry. Over the years, the award has honored some of the industry’s most influential figures, including Ford Motor Company’s Alan Mulally, Toyota Motor Corporation’s Fujio Cho, Daimler AG’s Dieter Zetsche, and Carlos Ghosn of the Nissan/Renault Alliance.
“Mark Reuss represents the kind of leadership this award was created to recognize,” said Sarah Cook, President of the Automotive Hall of Fame. “Throughout his career, Mark has combined deep engineering expertise with a clear understanding of what it takes to lead a global automotive company through periods of profound change. His influence on product, performance, manufacturing, and the broader direction of General Motors reflects a career of meaningful and lasting impact on our industry.”
“I’m so thankful to the Automotive Hall of Fame, and to Lear, for the Industry Leader Award,” said Reuss. “It’s not only a tremendous honor to be recognized alongside some of the industry’s true icons, but it’s also a testament to the great people I’ve worked with for so long at GM. We win — and have always won — as a team, and any success I’ve had in my career is a direct result of the success of the team.”
“Mark is a tremendous leader and someone I have great respect for,” said Scott. “His drive, passion for great products and bold leadership have defined his career and left a lasting mark on our industry. His contributions to General Motors and the broader automotive community are remarkable, and I am proud to present him with this well-deserved honor.”
The presentation and fireside chat will bring together senior leaders from across the automotive ecosystem for a conversation about the challenges and opportunities shaping the industry today. The event also reflects the Automotive Hall of Fame’s continued commitment to recognizing exceptional leadership across the global automotive landscape.
